Over the last eight years, Stephanie Gharakhanian has fought alongside our members to achieve economic justice for workers throughout Texas. Our members know her for her work to recover unpaid wages and as a true visionary in campaigns to win better working conditions — including rest breaks, paid sick days, immigration reform, and her work inside the Capitol at the Texas Legislature. After these awesome eight years as a true champion for our communities, we are sad to announce that this was Stephanie’s last week with Workers Defense.
As she moves on to the next stage of her career to continue to hold bad actors accountable, our staff and members are so grateful for the past eight years that Stephanie has been a leader in our organization. Many of you will agree when I say that Stephanie’s impact has been felt across the labor movement in Texas and the daily lives of our members. Her passion, her joy, and her famous smile will always be a part of the Workers Defense family.
While we will miss seeing her brilliance in action at Workers Defense, we look forward to continuing to work with her in her new capacity. Stephanie has shown us that wherever she goes, she is paving the way with transformative policy that improves the lives of immigrants and low-wage workers in Texas.
In gratitude,
Co-Founder & Co-Executive Director, Workers Defense
