Grants Manager

ROLE: GRANTS MANAGER

LOCATION: AUSTIN, DALLAS OR HOUSTON TEXAS

Workers Defense is seeking a full-time Grants Manager to lead, manage and grow our 501(c)3 and 501(c)4 foundation and government grants funding in Texas and nationally.  The Grant Writer will work closely with the Co-Executive Directors, Development Director and others in securing funding to support our work building power for immigrant workers in Texas..

THIS ROLE IN ACTION:

  • You will develop a firm understanding of Workers Defense programs by meeting with program staff on an ongoing basis.
  • You will meet regularly with the Development Team to determine fundraising strategies and work with Co-EDs and the Development Director to determine what grants to pursue.
  • You are responsible for grants from start to finish, working with the Development Director and Co-Executive Directors:
    • Research private foundations, corporate, union, and government funding prospects for our 501(c)3 and 501(c)4
    • Write and successfully submit grant proposals for foundation, corporate and government funding sources
    • Manage grant compliance by keeping track of grant deliverables, monitoring progress on deliverables, and communicating evaluation requirements to program staff
    • Maintain grants management systems, keeping detailed, organized records of funder communications, reporting, and grant proposals, etc.
    • Work with the finance team to develop program and project budgets for grants
    • Perform editorial and administrative activities necessary for the timely submission of all proposals, reports, and other communications as needed.
  • You will maintain up-to-date grant information in the organization’s database (CiviCRM) as well as other documents used for revenue tracking. 
  • As a member of the Finance Team, you will help ensure the appropriate allocation of grant funds and communicate expected grant revenue regularly and timely. 
  • You will steward funder cultivation efforts through ongoing contact with representatives of funding sources; coordinate site visits (if applicable) and draft related correspondence.
  • Other activities as needed to support the Development Team.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • At least two years of previous grant writing and management experience (including winning proposals to foundations or corporations)
  • Superior writing skills and ability to persuasively convey program results
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptionally detail oriented
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently with the ability to meet unexpected demands
  • Able to research and gather information quickly and easily through interviews, website and database research, and review of internal reports and meeting notes
  • Enjoys taking ownership of projects with the ability to handle multiple tasks under deadline and a high volume of work
  • Skilled at data analysis and at using technology/databases
  • Comfortable working with budgets and the accounting/finance team to understand and communicate financial impact of funding requests
  • Strong project management skills and ability to juggle multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including occasional nights and weekends
  • Knowledge of statewide and national progressive funding landscape (Preferred)
  • Experience with foundation grants for both 501(c)3 and 501(c)4 organizations (Preferred) 
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (Preferred)

WHAT WE OFFER:

  • The salary base for this position is $58,000 annually.
